As part of our year-long celebration of Oregon's 150 years of statehood, "150 Years of Oregon Art" exhibition drew over 1300 visitors during its two-month run in the Museum's Moreland Gallery.
On February 13, 2009, 100 Philomath Elementary School 4th graders visited the Museum to celebrate Oregon's birthday, and contemplated (see photo) the artwork. Each student chose their favorite piece in the show, then told their fellow students why they chose the piece. This student chose Mark Sponenburgh's wood sculpture, "Overture" ca. 1965.
The Benton County Historial Museum celebrates Oregon 150 all year long with lecture series, special exhibitions and events. Please visit our webiste for more information: www.bentoncountymuseum.org
