Jane Kirkpatrick Latest Novel Release at Benton County Museum

UPDATED Sept. 11, 2014

The book talk and signing by Oregon author Jane Kirkpatrick to be held on Saturday, September 13, 2014 at 11:00 am at the Benton County Historical Museum in Philomath will not be given by the author.

Ms. Kirkpatrick regrets to inform her readers and followers that she has had a death in the family and will not be able to lecture on Saturday.

Substituting for Ms. Kirkpatrick is Janet Meranda and Dr. Bob Zybach, both of whom helped the author with her research for the book, "A Light in the Wilderness". This historical novel is based on a Benton County, Oregon pioneer, Letitia Carson, one of the first African-American women to cross the Oregon Trail.

Pre-signed copies of the new release will be available for sale at the event. Previous Kirkpatrick titles will also be available.

There will be no charge for the lecture. The new title will be available for purchase along with previous titles.

"A Light in the Wilderness" is Kirkpatrick's 26th book.  Her latest historical novel is based on an early pioneer of Benton County, Letitia Carson, one of the first African-American women to cross the Oregon Trail, give birth along the way and settle on a claim with her common law Irish husband, David Carson.
